Rodolfo Aguiar, general secretary of the national union, criticized the proposal, which also included a one-time bonus of $30,000.

The State Workers Association (ATE) rejected this Thursday the joint offer of the Government for the National Public Administrationwhich consisted of a 2% for November and 1% for December. Additionally, it included a one-time bonus of $30,000 non-remunerative.

Rodolfo Aguiargeneral secretary of ATE Nacional, stated that “the parity was a new chapter in the horror story that the state has been experiencing since December 10.” And he added: ”The bonus is not even enough to fill half a tank of gasolineand four of these bonds would be needed to pay a single electricity bill. Furthermore, the salary increase has no impact on the workers’ pockets. The Government has decided to put Public Sector salaries through the crusher”.

Along these lines, he remarked: ”Today salaries in the Public Administration are far from covering the minimum benefits that are guaranteed by law. The impoverishment of the entire state plant has been abrupt. In just 11 months, purchasing power has been pulverized”.

Salaries could be 50% below accumulated inflation

”At this point, who could guarantee a 1% increase or a measly one-time bonus? Surely someone who does not feel firsthand the needs of the workers. Only someone who no longer lives or thinks like the workers could agree to a recomposition of this nature.”, he launched, strongly criticizing the Government’s offer.

At the end, he assured that ”this last negotiation of the year accelerates conflict in the State. At Christmas and New Year everything increases and these numbers will be even more out of date.”

In this way, the salary increase in the year of the state employees will remain at 73%staying below accumulated inflation, which is at 101.6%with still three months left to compute. In this case, and if the inflationary trend continues, The loss of purchasing power in the public sector would reach 50% by the end of the year.
