In an interview, Oli.P talks about his new album “Miracle” and explains why a miracle in his life has to do with his wife.

Oliver Petszokat (46) will release his new album “Wunder” on November 1st. The singer, presenter and actor has a special personal connection to the album title. “For me it is a small miracle how far my wife has now come after her major operation,” he says in an interview with the news agency spot on news about his wife Pauline’s brain tumor operation at the beginning of 2020. “She has even started again “That wasn’t even remotely conceivable one or two years ago. We encounter miracles every day if we believe in them and recognize them as such.”

The songs “Wunderkerzen” and “Everything gets easier” that can be heard on the album exude confidence and optimism. “Mobbing and complaining doesn’t help in the end,” explains the optimist Oli.P. “The negative energy also doesn’t feel good. I still try to see the good in every situation. Giving up is not an option. Otherwise the other side wins.”

“Our hearts beat in Berlin”

But the singer also addresses other personal topics in what is now his ninth studio album. “Adrenalin” is about his hometown of Berlin. “My wife and I have been living in the capital again for a few years,” says the 46-year-old. “This is our home. Pauline was born in the East, I was born in the West. This is where our hearts beat.” Fittingly, Oli.P also spent his tenth wedding anniversary in Berlin last August. “We invited our best friends to the Justin Timberlake concert. That was fun.” After ten years of marriage, the couple is “still full of love. It’s more likely to be more than less!” And what is his recipe for a long-term partnership? “Without real love, openness, respect, passion and trust, it probably won’t work.” A new version of “Airplanes in the Belly” has also found space on “Wunder”. Oli.P stormed the charts with the song 26 years ago. “This song made my life what it is. I’m just very grateful,” he reflects. The song still has a permanent place in his program today. “I have around 120 performances a year. At every performance I sing the song twice. It’s still a lot of fun. I would be happy if it were still like that in 26 years.” With “Marty McFly” he also makes it clear that he fondly remembers the 80s and 90s. “What childhood and youth felt like. It was just a great time. And with old songs, toys or clothes from back then you basically have a little time machine.”

“I really work a lot”

The former “GZSZ” actor still appreciates the fact that, despite his early musical success, he has always had a broad base. “I enjoy all the different things equally. It also stimulates creativity when you don’t just have a single track. I can’t imagine it any other way.” However, his monthly appointment calendar, which the singer regularly shares with his fans, is accordingly full. “I really work a lot,” admits Oli.P. “But that’s also a good thing. It still gives me the luxury of having many days off.” Because his private life and his marriage should not suffer. “I think it balances out quite well. If I had the feeling that it wouldn’t be good for us as a couple, then I would do it differently. But we really have a lot of time together. It’s very important to us. “He describes the year 2024 as “a very varied and successful year. I had a lot of fun.” For the coming years he just wishes for “health”. And how will the singer spend Christmas this year? “As always with the family-in-law in the Erzgebirge. Very relaxed.”
