Ed Sheeran: On Halloween he goes as a meme

When choosing a costume on Halloween, many people rely on horror or sex appeal. For others, there is clearly a humorous component to their costumes. Ed Sheeran (33) obviously belongs to the latter group this year. The British superstar dressed up as a meme of herself.

There’s a picture floating around the internet that shows Sheeran as a monkey holding a smartphone. The meme was apparently based on a photo of a little boy in a monkey costume in an Apple Store. The singer has now recreated the Sheeran picture.

Sheeran can be seen in a monkey costume in the new photo. He takes a pose similar to the one in the original and holds a smartphone in his hands with the same meme on the display. He ironically uses the hashtag #feltcutemightdeletelater. This first became widespread a few years ago. Users use it to say that they thought they were cute or sexy at the moment they took a selfie, but that they could perhaps delete the picture later. Since this can quickly seem like fishing for compliments and attention, the hashtag often has to be used for jokes.

Sheeran also uses the hashtag #halloweenbruv, which means “Halloween, brother”. “Haters will say it’s AI,” the singer also jokes. The Brit’s humor is celebrated in the comments. “You won Halloween 2024,” it says, among other things. Or: “The photo we didn’t know we needed.”
