Grammy winner Young Thug is on the loose again. The musician was sentenced to a long suspended sentence in court in Atlanta.

The US rapper Young Thug (33), known, among other things, for his hit “Havana” with Camila Cabello (27), is at large again. He was arrested in May 2022 for suspected gang crime and violations of weapons and drug laws and has been in custody since then. On Thursday, the Grammy winner, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, pleaded guilty in court to multiple charges and was sentenced to 15 years’ probation.

Was Young Thug’s record label just a front for a gang?

The trial against Young Thug was the longest criminal trial in the history of the US state of Georgia. If the rap star violates the terms of his probation, he could face 20 years in prison. In addition, he is not allowed to have any contact with gang members during the 15 years of his probation and must do community service.

Before the sentencing, Young Thug told the court he takes “full responsibility for my crimes and my allegations” and is now aware of the power he has in his hometown of Atlanta to set a better example.

The musician was accused of leading the alleged street gang Young Slime Life, abbreviated “YSL”. Prosecutors had argued that Young Thug’s record label, Young Stoner Life Records, also abbreviated as “YSL,” was actually just a front for that street gang.
