Jennifer Lopez is also angry that Trump gave a platform to a racist joke about Puerto Rico.
Jennifer Lopez (55) is now also getting involved in the US election campaign. After Donald Trump (78) insulted Puerto Rico at a campaign event, more and more stars with Latino roots are expressing outrage. Including Lopez.
“I will proudly cast my vote for Kamala Harris,” she said at a Democratic campaign rally in Las Vegas on Thursday evening. In her speech, she specifically addressed the Latino community in the USA: “This is our country too, and we must exercise our right to vote on November 5th.”
Trump insulted “anyone of decent character”
In her speech, Lopez emphasized that her roots also lie in Puerto Rico. The singer and actress said of Trump at the event that he had “constantly worked to divide us.” And further: “At Madison Square Garden he reminded us who he is and what he really feels. It wasn’t just Puerto Ricans who were offended that day. It was every Latino in this country, it was humanity , and anyone who has a decent character.”
Trump’s election campaign appearance at Madison Square Garden at the beginning of the week caused strong criticism from all camps and, above all, attracted the displeasure of numerous top stars with Latin American roots. Trump had given comedian Tony Hinchcliffe a stage, who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” in his speech. Celebrities like Ricky Martin (52), Nicky Jam (43) and Bad Bunny (30) then gave their recommendation for Kamala Harris (60).
