Meryl Streep and Adele: Special moment at Las Vegas concert

Hollywood star Meryl Streep (75) attended Adele’s (36) show in Las Vegas on Friday, November 1st. The singer was probably informed about this in advance and honored her famous guest with a special outfit.

During her recent show “Weekends with Adele,” Adele made her way through the crowd at the Colosseum at “Caesar’s Palace” dressed as Madeline Ashton, Streep’s iconic character from the 1992 film “Death Suits Her” (1992), as in can be seen in a video shared on Instagram. She wore a silver jacket reminiscent of the one Streep wore in the iconic fantasy comedy, as well as a blonde wig and a large silver necklace. Adele sang her song “When We Were Young” and stopped in front of Streep.

“Hello,” Adele said cheerfully, curtsying to the Oscar winner, who then returned the favor by bowing to the artist. The two stars then shared a warm hug while Adele continued to belt out the tune from her 2015 album “25.” “I love you,” she also told Streep between lyrics.

It was only on Saturday, October 26th that Adele caused a stir when she met Céline Dion (56) at her residency show. She sang the same song she did when she greeted Streep as she walked up to Dion. Adele cried as she hugged her colleague for a few seconds. She then said a few words to Dion, who was holding Adele’s face in her hands, before the “My Heart Will Go On” singer kissed her hand.

Adele later explained why the moment was so special for her in a post on X (formerly Twitter). She wrote in part: “I’ve been performing in Céline Dion’s room at the Colosseum for almost two years now. It was the only venue in Vegas I wanted to play because it was built for her. I have a picture of her right next to it the stage that I touch every night before I go on stage and she came to the show this weekend and it was a surprise and a MOMENT!!” Dion responded in an Instagram post on November 1, saying, “Your performance was spectacular, your production was so beautiful. We loved seeing you and hearing you sing…it was such a treat for all of us emotional evening.”

The arena in Las Vegas, where Adele has been regularly playing her “Weekends with Adele” show since 2022, was built especially for Céline Dion in 2003. She resided there for four years with her “A New Day…” show. From 2011 to 2019, the “My Heart Will Go On” interpreter returned with a second residency. One of her shows was also attended by Adele, who now performs a total of 100 shows as part of her Las Vegas residency, two per weekend. She will make her last appearance on November 23rd, after which she wants to take a break.
