The nominees for the “1Live-Krone” music award have been announced. The fans will decide who will be crowned kings and queens of German pop music in December.

More than 30 artists and music acts can hope for a “1Live crown” this year – including musicians such as Ski Aggu and Nina Chuba who have already been crowned in previous years. Until December 4th, fans now have the opportunity to vote for their favorites in seven categories, as Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) announced. The coveted audience awards will be presented in a gala show on December 5th in Bielefeld in the Lokschuppen.

Eight voting categories – more than 30 music acts

In addition to the big winner of last year’s crown awards, Ski Aggu, Apache 207, Kontra K, Montez and Nico Santos are also in the running for “Best Artist”. The candidates for “Best Artist” are Ayliva, Lea, Leony, Loi and Paula Hartmann. Berq, Blumengarten, Emilio, Esther Graf and Milano can prove themselves as “Best Newcomer Act”.

Some of those named can also hope for a crown in other categories: singer Ayliva is also nominated for “Best Live Act” alongside Nina Chuba, Provinz, Querbeat and SDP. She can hope to win a crown for “Best Song” of 2024 with her song “Wunder”. There are eight hits nominated in this category that have recently been particularly popular with young, pop music-loving listeners.

Nina Chuba is also in the running in the “Best Hip-Hop/R&B Song” category – and is competing against “Kissen” by 01099, among others. The song “Wie du sometimes miss”, which Ski Aggu recorded together with Zartmann, is up for selection in the “Best Alternative Song” category, as is “Meer” by Jeremias.

The music award from the WDR youth channel 1Live is being presented for the 25th time. The anniversary edition will be hosted by Jeannine Michaelsen, who was already on stage as host in 2013 and 2014. A new edition of the coveted Krone trophy will be presented for the anniversary, as announced by WDR. Instead of a golden crown in a glass ball, the award comes as a rectangle with lots of pink.
