Quincy Jones died on November 3, 2024 at the age of 91. The star producer (Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson) not only left behind seven children, but also left his mark in jazz, pop, hip-hop and film music. The list of stars who bowed to him after his death is correspondingly diverse.
Michael Caine mourns death of “astrological twin”
Michael Caine (91) celebrates his “astrological twin” as a “titan in the music world”. The actor and the musician were both born on March 14, 1933. “He was a wonderful and unique person, I was lucky to have known him.” The two stars met on the set of “Charlie Makes Millions” (1969). Caine starred in “The Italian Job” (original title) and Quincy Jones wrote the music.

“Father and role model” for LL Cool J
For LL Cool J (56), Quincy Jones was more than just a musician. Between 1992 and 1994, the rapper was in a relationship with his daughter Kidada Jones (50). “You were a father and a role model at a time when I really needed a father and a role model.” He refers to the deceased as a “mentor,” “role model,” and “king.”
“You gave me opportunities and passed on wisdom,” the rapper continued. And: “Without you, the music wouldn’t be the music. My condolences to the entire family. I love you. Rest in the sweetest music forever.”
The younger generation also pays homage to Quincy Jones. Victoria Monét (35), who was awarded the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2024, as “one of her greatest inspirations”. “Your legacy will live on forever and ever,” she wrote. “Heaven definitely got an upgrade with you”.
