Shock in Peru: lightning struck the field and killed a soccer player
Peruvian football is in mourning after a fatal and unexpected weather accident. The player José Hugo de la Cruz Meza was struck by lightning and died instantly, in the middle of the match between Juventud Bellavista and Familia Chocca in Huancayo.
This natural phenomenon not only caused the death of De la Cruz Meza, but also left other players seriously injured.
A video captured by spectators reflected the shocking moment when lightning struck the playing field and knocked the footballers over.
According to the Peruvian newspaper Tromethe others affected by the lightning are Juan Choca, Erick Estiven Cente Cuyllor19 years old; Joshep Gustavo Pariona Chocca16; and Cristian César Pituy Cahuana24.
All of them were immediately transferred to the Hospital Carrión de Huancayo to receive medical attention.
