The new stern app – what exactly is new and different?
Not only the website stern.de is new – our app is too. It has some special features that are not available on the website. We even developed an area specifically for the app.
We didn’t just tidy up our website and make it stylish. We have also had these in the past few months star App completely redeveloped. There are actually two apps, because we have developed an app for the Apple iOS operating system – and one for all Android devices. In this way, we can go into the special features of the two different systems a little better – and it will be even more intuitive and easier for you to use them.
We have rolled out the new app gradually over the past few days, which always takes a little longer than the website. So if you’ve seen the old app before, don’t be surprised.
However, all users can now see and download the new app in the stores. Should you do that? star If you have already installed the app, the update will take place automatically in the background (depending on the settings) or you will receive a prompt for an update. With this update to version 9 you will have the new one star App on your smartphone or tablet.
The new stern app with some special features
The basis for the star App – no matter what device – is the new website. So you will notice a lot of similarities. Especially if you sometimes use the website in the mobile version on your smartphone.
One difference is the navigation: In the app you navigate at the bottom of the screen using the firmly anchored navigation bar that is accessible at any time. There you will find the home button, with which you can always find your way back to the app’s home page. You will also find the area star+ with all texts, videos and photo series that you as a subscriber can read and see. If you are looking for the menu, then go to the fourth area: Contents.
The “Discover” area is completely new to the app. You will find it in the second position in the navigation bar. Here we want to invite you – as the name suggests – to discover.
You’ll find big and special stories here, whether from… starby GEO, star Crime or Capital, videos and photo series. These are stories where you can sit back, enjoy and immerse yourself. There are deliberately only a few pieces per day – as a counterpoint, so to speak, to the otherwise large number of news, reports and analyzes.
Further improvements to the app will follow
Not everything is perfect yet. As with the website, we will continue to work on the app and continually develop it further. New functions will be added, but also new formats. Some things will certainly become a little nicer and easier and more intuitive to use over time.
