Musician Zuckowski doesn’t believe in subsequent interventions in songs. Learning from the past is important to him. At the same time, he is holding on to a Christmas tradition.
The songwriter Rolf Zuckowski doesn’t believe in changing or banning songs and children’s songs afterwards. “What cultural history is can always be discussed – how we think today, how we live today,” said the musician and composer of the well-known song “In the Christmas Bakery” in Berlin.
However, he believes that things from the past cannot be changed: “They are just there.” It is true that one could discuss the fact that certain songs can no longer be written like this today. “But I think eradicating them is the wrong approach.” Because then you can’t learn anything from it. “Then they’re just gone.”
At the same time, Zuckowski is sticking to some traditions. For example, he still sends handwritten Christmas cards, as the 77-year-old revealed at the presentation of “Germany’s first sounding stamp.” He makes a lot of phone calls in his family circle, but his extended circle of friends, “especially those we don’t see over Christmas, get handwritten greetings.”
Stamps that can reproduce songs and stories
He will be sending his Christmas cards this year with the new Deutsche Post stamp, as the songwriter announced. In addition to various stories and knowledge articles, the brand can also reproduce Zuckowski’s Christmas classic “In the Christmas Bakery”.
