This was stated by the president of Volkswagen Argentina, who maintained that geopolitics gained primary space in the analysis of company operations.

The president of Volkswagen Argentina, Pablo Di Si, stated that the geopolitics has begun to be the axis of analysis in your company, when planning your business strategy. He pointed out that the instability of the global supply chain forces companies to constantly analyze the global scenario.

The first conversation I have with my team at the start of the day is about geopolitics”indicated the businessman, who considered that this aspect of the business in the automotive sector became more important than others.

As an example, the main Volkswagen executive explained -in the framework of the 14th Abeceb Forum, organized by the consulting firm, directed by the economist Dante Sica- that in the United States there are certain types of car parts that are restricted for some Chinese provinces. In that sense, he indicated that for most global companies “the future is uncertain.”

The businessman also maintained that the automotive sector in the world is going through “the most violent change in history” for the transition towards decarbonization and electromobility. In that sense, he stressed that the future is still uncertain in relation to what type of technology will end up being imposed in the market, but he considered that it would not be correct to try to impose a certain one in a country.

Regarding the elections in the United States, He stated that VW “has a plan A and a plan B” depending on who wins, be it Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. It is because, for the Republican candidate, it should be the market that decides whether to move towards electromobility, while for the Democrats it is State policy that should promote investments to eliminate fossil fuels.
