Previous modifications to the Ministries law
In April of this year, the Government had already changed the law on ministries. At that time, through Decree 301/2024published in the Official Gazette (BO), four secretariats were confirmed.
“The tasks necessary to enable the activity of the President of the Nation will be attended to by the following Presidential Secretariats: General; Legal and Technical; Regulatory Strategic Planning; Press”, the decree detailed.
In this way was replaced Article 9 of Law No. 22,520 and it was clarified that “the Secretariats stated above will assist the National Executive Branch directly.” “Similar assistance will be provided by the other Secretariats and organizations that the President of the Nation creates for this purpose, without prejudice to his powers to modify, transfer or suppress said Secretariats and organizations,” it was added.
Until now, Culture is in charge of Leonardo Cifelliwho was put in office by the Secretary of the Presidency herself. In the environment of Karina Milei They asked that the absorption of the area “be done in order”, hence the delay in making the announcement. “The structure has to come out first and then the modification,” they explain about the administrative process.
But also – and above all – The management of said secretariat is considered key when designing the electoral campaign with a view to 2025. Culture has 27 national museums and at least 12 training institutes, among other organizations.
The ruling party also explains that the transfer will make it possible to improve the management of the secretariat headed by Cifelli, specifically in regards to the cash, blocked in the mega ministry led by Pettovello. This week the head of the Culture portfolio was at Casa Rosada and was received by the Minister of Deregulation and Transformation of the State, Federico Sturzenegger. As he was able to reconstruct Scopethe meeting did not address the transfer issue, but rather the focus was on the elimination of obstacles to the circulation of works of art.
