Pharrell Williams was employed at McDonald’s before his music career. However, the chain fired the producer three times.

Pharrell Williams (51) once worked at the fast food chain McDonald’s before becoming world famous as a singer and music producer. But his career at the company was anything but successful: as he revealed, he was fired three times during his time at McDonald’s.

The first two times Williams was fired because of his laziness. “The third time it was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re just sitting there eating nuggets?'” he said with a smile about his experience. According to Williams, McDonald’s was his “first and only” employer – a job that, despite its short duration, created an interesting connection. Years later, the musician was involved in composing the world-famous “I’m Lovin’ It” jingle, which became the fast food chain’s iconic advertising theme.

This is how his career developed

As part of the duo The Neptunes with Chad Hugo (50), Williams wrote and produced many internationally known titles such as Gwen Stefani’s (55) “Hollaback Girl” or Justin Timberlake’s (43) “Rock Your Body”. Williams also stood behind the microphone for songs like “Blurred Lines” and “Happy”. He also contributed soundtracks to numerous films, including the “Despicable Me” series.

With his work as creative director of the fashion label Louis Vuitton, he built up another mainstay in 2023. Williams also acts as a film producer. In the biopic “Piece By Piece” he traced his career using Lego figures. The animated film will be shown in US cinemas from October 11th and in Germany from January 23rd, 2025.
