The world of Central Rosary The week started with important news. Gonzalo Belloso, president of Canalla, announced that coach Matías Lequi will no longer continue in his position, and who will replace him will be Ariel Holan.

Who is Ariel Holan, the new coach of Rosario Central
To the surprise of many, Ariel Holan’s first steps as a coach were not in football. In fact, he was very successful in hockeya sport in which he directed for 10 years. Was technical director of the Uruguay women’s field hockey teamwhere he won the bronze medal in the 2003 Pan American Games. He trained all divisions of the German Club of Lomas de Zamora in the year 82-87 and led the women’s hockey team of banfield from the last divisions to the second division.
After going through countless hockey clubs, Holan tried his luck at footballand joined the team of collaborators of Jorge Burruchaga when he trained Arsenal de Sarandí, Estudiantes de La Plata and Independiente de Avellaneda. Between 2006 and 2008 he was director of the Rojo football school and then returned to be Burruchaga’s assistant in banfield and in his second time at Arsenal.
From 2011 to 2013, Holan was part of Matías Almeyda’s coaching staff while he coached River Plate. At that stage he helped Millonario to promote to the First Division and his contract ended when Almeyda was fired from the club.

In 2015 began his career as technical directorand the first stop was Defense and Justice. Florencio Varela’s team made history that season after eliminating Independiente from the Argentine Cup and qualifying for its first international tournament, the South American Cup 2017.

However, due to his good performance, he would compete for that same cup being Independiente coach. The good performance took him to the Avellaneda team, which curiously came out champion of that South American Cup from the hand of Holan. Then he took over the Suruga Bank Cup 2018and in 2019 he left Independiente.

Since that year, Holan did not manage an Argentine team again. He passed through the Catholic University of Chile twice, for Santos in Brazil, for León in Mexico and for Barcelona in Ecuador.. However, he did not win any titles in all that time. Now he returns to Argentine football with a new challenge.
