In the eyes of BAP singer Wolfgang Niedecken, Donald Trump’s election victory shows that populists and despots are on the rise worldwide.
Wolfgang Niedecken, 73, is shocked by Donald Trump’s election victory. “The election result in the USA is a catastrophe,” wrote the BAP singer on Facebook.
“It baffles me, no matter how much I think about it, I can’t find any comforting aspect about it. The populists, egomaniacs and despots are on the rise worldwide and humanity simply doesn’t want to understand that climate goals have priority,” says the musician.
Wolfgang Niedecken quotes 40 year old BAP hit
Then Niedecken quotes from the BAP song “Ne Schöne Jrooß” (a nice greeting) from 1980, which has lyrics in Cologne dialect: “The poor pigs are stuck in situations that can only be explained by brain amputations, which are still in a lockstep direction Nonsense jescheck. Oh levven Orwell, ’84 still eats, it only makes sense for 4 years now” (The poor pigs are stuck in situations that can only be explained by brain amputations. They have gradually sent them in lockstep towards nonsense. Oh, dear Orwell, 1984 is near. It’s just a silly year now.
The election results in the USA are a catastrophe. It baffles me, no matter how hard I think about it, I can’t find any comfort in it. Populists, egomaniacs and despots are on the rise worldwide and humanity simply does not want to understand that climate goals have priority. In “Ne Schöne Jrooß” I sang 44 years ago: The poor pigs are stuck in situations that only make sense through brain amputations, which are still in step towards nonsense. Oh dear Orwell, ’84 is still there, it only makes sense for 4 years now. It works the same way, just inconspicuously and a lot more sophisticated. That trick works really smoothly. Gradual de-mündijung works great, voluntarily ennjemaat and stekum to the point of stupidity. Back then we were talking about the stupidity of the Bild newspaper, today we are dealing with Elon Musk. We have firmly decided not to make the mood at our ZEITREISE concerts dependent on the current political situation. The 5 gigs we’ve played so far have been breathtaking and magical, it would be a shame if we let the wind be taken out of our sails now… that’s about to happen! We continue with music, full speed ahead. #Time travel #CircusKrone #neschönejrooß

Referring to George Orwell’s novel 1984, Niedecken sees a parallel to the “Bild” newspaper, which criticized the song in 1980. Currently, however, it is Trump confidant Elon Musk – owner of the social media platform X – to whom the BAP singer’s criticism refers.
The Republican Donald Trump surprisingly won the US presidential election against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
Despite Trump’s election victory, Niedecken didn’t want to let his current tour with BAP be ruined. “The 5 gigs we have played so far have been breathtaking and magical, it would be a shame if we let the wind be taken out of our sails now,” said the singer via Facebook.
