What will the new Star Wars trilogy be like?
The new story is not intended to be a continuation of the Skywalker saga, the name of the overarching arc of the Star Wars films that dominate pop culture and are popular with viewers, known as Episodes 1 through 9. The intention here is to have characters new ones and a new story, and not that it is a continuation, according to sources. (Though that doesn’t mean some characters can’t or won’t appear.)
Kinberg already has strong ties to Star Wars. He was co-creator of the animated series Star Wars: Rebels along with the Star Wars guru Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck. The Emmy-nominated series ran for four seasons, from 2014 to 2018.
He also helped in the relaunch of Star Wars after Disney bought Lucasfilm, acting as a consultant on 2015’s The Force Awakens.
Kinberg is an established presence in the genre. He participated in Fox movies X-Menbeing one of the producers of Logan and the first two Deadpool films, among many other creative tasks. And production of the version of Edgar Wright from the story of Stephen King The Running Man for Paramount.
