Province of Buenos Aires approved a new regime for teacher training

The province of Buenos Aires approved the creation of a new Macro Academic Regime that promotes the reorganization of the Teacher and Technical Training Institutes to improve the training quality of future teachers.

This was established by the General Directorate of Culture and Education (DGCyE), through a resolution of the General Council.}

New approach in teacher training

With a focus focused on the support and continuity of student trajectoriesit incorporates aspects to respond to the current challenges and needs for the training of better teachers.

In this new RAM, the focus is on strengthening the first year as a fundamental space of academic and institutional reference.

This approach invites these institutions to design proposals that accompany the insertion of entrants into academic life, facilitating the transition to new fields of knowledge and socialization.

Likewise, the figures of the itinerant student and listener are introduced.. The first, for example, will be able to take up to 30% of their subjects at another institution, facilitating mobility and access to various educational experiences.

This model makes the course options more flexible, adapting to the particularities.

New modalities

In addition, there will be two modalities of in-person courses: full in-person and combined with virtual instances, creating a unified educational experience that adapts to current environments and enriches the learning process.

With the purpose of increasing the time allocated to teaching, the new RAM establishes a validity of taking eight consecutive shifts and promotes the promotion of 70% of the subjects.

In addition, The minimum score to accredit Teaching and Professional Practices is raised to 7. In this way, more time is provided in the academic calendar for teaching.

It is worth clarifying that the new RAM responds to a territorial work process and consultations with the different actors involved on the main updating demands.

From the administration of Axel Kicillof they pointed out that “with this renewed framework, the higher education system adapts to current times and takes on the challenge of training the province’s future teachers and technicians with quality and equity.”
