Glamorous and political: The Bambis on the evening after Trump’s election victory
International stars such as Kevin Costner, Bryan Adams and Robbie Williams came to Munich for the Bambi awards. But a 103-year-old provided the highlight.
We have been awarding Bambi since 1948. For the first time, the prize, which has been awarded by Burda-Verlag since 1962/63, was broadcast on the Prime Video streaming platform. Not the only special thing about this evening, which was glamorous but unusually thoughtful and political due to Donald Trump’s election victory and the AfD’s recent successes in state elections.
The emotional highlight of the evening was the award for Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer. When the 103-year-old took the stage, all the guests in the hall stood up.
International celebrities such as Robbie Williams, Bryan Adams and Oscar winner Kevin Costner were also present at the gala on the Bavaria Film site in Munich. Footballer Toni Kroos, comedian Teddy Teclebrhan and actors Lars Eidinger and Jella Haase were also among those honored.
