Ryan Reynolds dreams of hosting the Oscars. He could make this dream come true with Hugh Jackman.
“Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds (48) has so far been denied an Oscar, but one of his biggest dreams still has to do with the golden boy, like the Hollywood star. Instead of accepting the Oscar, Reynolds said he would like to host the awards ceremony, the Canadian actor said. Reynolds and “Deadpool & Wolverine” colleague Hugh Jackman (56) are already being discussed as possible presenters of the 97th Academy Awards, as various media outlets reported.
“It would be a dream”
And Reynolds’ dream doesn’t seem to be entirely impossible: after all, he and Jackman have already proven their joint presenting talent. Last summer, the duo hosted former Oscar presenter Jimmy Kimmel’s (56) ABC talk show while he was on vacation. “It would be a dream to do it one day,” Reynolds admits in the podcast when asked whether he could imagine hosting the Oscars. But he and Jackman are currently not available for this, Reynolds continued. He is currently writing a film for Jackman, film director Shawn Levy (56) and himself, which has nothing to do with the Marvel universe and takes up his time.
In addition, the further “Deadpool” films would take up the actor’s entire life and he wanted to dedicate what little time he had left to his family. “I have four children and I love my children,” Reynolds said.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” is one of the most successful films
The action comedy “Deadpool & Wolverine” by director Shawn Levy and starring the two Hollywood greats Reynolds and Jackman is considered one of the most successful films in history. With worldwide sales of more than 1.086 billion US dollars, the film not only turned out to be the highest-grossing film with a so-called R rating, i.e. a US age restriction for under 17s. He also surpassed Todd Philips (53) “Joker” from 2019 with Joaquin Phoenix (49).
