Conflict between Abad and Noboa

Abad began her duties as ambassador in November 2023, after being appointed by the president. Daniel Noboawith whom he had multiple frictions. At that moment, he launched: ”His actions and what he has done through his ministers of an entire cabinet striving to ensure that this constitutional order cannot be given”.

Furthermore, in August The vice president denounced Noboa for alleged ”political gender violence” before the Contentious Electoral Court, something that the president rejected in a statement: ”She wants the president of the Republic out of power, so that she can assume that position. If there was any doubt about his intentions, today the mask finally fell off (…) It is evident that the vice president plays a role in a much larger plot.”

This lawsuit had a hearing on Friday, where Abad substantiated his accusation and other senior officials of his administration, alleging eight alleged attacks. In that line, requested sanctions against Noboa himself; and also against the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabriela Sommerfeldpresidential advisor Diana Jacome and the former vice minister of Government Esteban Torres.
