Meanwhile, Petri signed a collaboration agreement this week between the Argentine Army and the National Gendarmerie, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and ensuring logistical support to the Security Forces in Patagonia, especially in strategic areas such as Vaca Muerta, Neuquén, where North American companies and companies from other countries operate.

During the event, Petri thanked his US Defense counterpart for the invitation and highlighted the progress made this year in the relationship between Argentina and the United States, as well as the strengthening of cooperation to confront “together the challenges and threats of the region.”

Last Tuesday, the Minister of Defense toured the facilities of the VI Mountain Engineer Battalion of the Argentine Army in Neuquén, with the objective of strengthening cooperation between this force and the National Gendarmerie to protect the gas and hydrocarbon resources of the region.

The purpose of the agreement is to guarantee free movement on routes, avoid blockades that interrupt economic activity and protect strategic productive areas, Defense reported in a statement. This measure seeks to create “an environment of stability that supports economic activity and the safety of workers in the area.”

In this context, the Argentine Army It will provide accommodation in its barracks, as well as logistical and operational support to the Anti-Riot Squadron of the Mobile Detachment 4 of the National Gendarmerie, which will optimize the response of the Security Forces in the region.

This agreement is in line with the delayed presidential decree with which Petri hopes to mobilize Army troops to the border to collaborate with the national Gendarmerie and annul the so-called “Garré doctrine” that only allows the Armed Forces to act in the face of the threat from another state.
