Martha Stewart has revealed she once dated Anthony Hopkins – and explains why things didn’t work out between the two.
Martha Stewart (80) shared an anecdote from her love life with Ellen DeGeneres (63). The US presenter and author dated actor Anthony Hopkins (84) in the past. But when he celebrated success with the thriller “The Silence of the Lambs” in 1991, Stewart lost interest.
“I have a big creepy house in Maine that’s in the woods and I couldn’t even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there,” she laughed. She always had to think about “what he’s eating,” Stewart explained. “And that’s why you stopped dating him?” DeGeneres asked in disbelief. Stewart replied with a smirk and succinctly, “Yes.”
Hopkins played the cannibalistic psychiatrist and imprisoned serial killer Hannibal Lecter in the film directed by Jonathan Demme (1944-2017). At his side, Jodie Foster (59) played the FBI candidate Clarice Starling, who wants to convict another serial killer with the help of the psychiatrist. Hopkins received the Oscar for best actor in 1992 for his role.
