Reportedly, Mark Rylance is the favorite for the role of Dumbledore in the next series of harry potterof HBO.
A report from the Variety portal indicates that the Oscar-winning actor and protagonists of films such as Wolf Hall and Bridge of Spies tops the casting director’s wish list, although he also confirms that HBO and Warner Bros. have not yet begun negotiations with the prolific film and theater actor. However, they have contacted Rylance to gauge his interest in the iconic role.
In a statement to the aforementioned portal, HBO representatives said: “We are aware that such a high-profile series will generate many rumors and speculation. “As we move forward into pre-production, we will only confirm details when we finalize agreements.”
Actors who played Dumbledore
Four actors have played Dumbledore in the eight main Harry Potter films and the three Fantastic Beasts prequels. Richard Harris he played the character in Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets before his death, and was later replaced by Michael Gambon in the remaining six major films. Gambon died in 2023 at the age of 82.
