First details about the anniversary ball in the new year

In 2025 the SemperOpernball celebrates its 100th anniversary. These stars are taking part in this special event in Dresden.

In 2024, the SemperOpernball celebrated its return to the ball season after the pandemic. The big dance ball will take place again in Dresden next year. The 100th anniversary is coming up in 2025 – the very first opera ball in the Semperoper took place in February 1925. On Tuesday (November 12th) the organizer announced the first details about the event in the anniversary year. It has already been decided who will moderate the evening, which acts will provide the musical accompaniment and who will receive prizes.

Moderated by a well-rehearsed team

After having already established themselves as a moderation duo at the Opera Ball’s comeback, actors Tom Wlaschiha (51) and Stephanie Stumpf (40) are returning this time to guide the guests present through the evening. “It is a special pleasure to host the ball again,” said “Game of Thrones” star Wlaschiha in a statement. “I’m really excited to be on stage with Tom again,” added Stumph.

Max Giesinger sings at midnight

Finally, at midnight, the Opera Ball guests can look forward to a musical highlight. The live concert at the SemperOpernball 2025 will be performed by German pop singer Max Giesinger (36). He is also happy to be there again after a performance in 2018 and to “bring emotional moments to the stage” with his band, said the “80 Million” interpreter.

During the course of the evening, numerous classical and entertainment artists will provide a varied program before Giesinger’s performance. Among others, the South African soprano Golda Schulz (41) and the star trumpeter Till Brönner (53) will appear. The Saxon Staatskapelle Dresden, the Semperoper Ballet and the Semperoper Children’s Choir are also in the program.

The first prize winners have been announced

To honor outstanding artistic achievements, the CHOROS Awards will be presented again in 2025. The young talent award goes to the soprano Jasmin Delfs, the new ensemble member of the Semperoper. In addition, the Dresden music producer and DJ Tino Piontek (44), known as Purple Disco Machine, received the award in the art and culture category.
