“That really got to me”: Chryssanthi Kavazi and Tom Beck visit children’s oncology for the RTL donation marathon.
Chryssanthi Kavazi (45) and Tom Beck (46) paid a visit to the pediatric oncology department at the Charité Berlin. As part of the RTL fundraising marathon, they want to work to make the examinations less frightening for young cancer patients. On November 21st, the actors will campaign in the studio for financial support for the project.
According to the press release, Kavazi and Beck want to work together with the “Stiftung RTL – We help children eV”, the “Stiftung stern – Help for people eV” and “Cancel Cancer eV” to ensure that more hospitals are equipped with the MINITOM Kids. This is a child-friendly replica of an MRI machine. “I was in the tube myself a few months ago and was about to press the emergency button. Being able to see and, above all, hear beforehand what happens during an MRI is incredibly important – especially for children,” explains Tom Beck.
Emotional experience for Chryssanthi Kavazi
Chryssanthi Kavazi and Tom Beck have two children of their own, which is why the project is very close to their hearts. “I don’t even want to imagine my own child lying in this tube,” says Kavazi. Hearing the experiences and fears of young cancer patients “really affected me,” said the “GZSZ” actress, who was moved. The child-friendly mini-MRI could make examinations in the hospital less anxiety-provoking. “We want to take away the fear of examinations for small patients – please help us with this,” is the appeal from the two.
