Heinz Hoenig is recovering at home after his long time in the hospital. But he doesn’t have the tools to get back on his feet. Now a new fundraising campaign is supposed to help.
A new fundraising campaign is intended to help give Heinz Hoenig a little more quality of life. It was brought into being by Rüdiger Schwenk, a good friend of Hoenig, and his wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig. The blacksmith has come up with something special. In the “A Heart for Heinz Hoenig” campaign, willing fans are asked to transfer 25 euros, for which they can then receive an individual cloverleaf forged with their initials. 20 euros of the prize goes directly to Heinz Hoenig.

“For care and aids,” the magazine “Bunte” quotes Schwenk. “We want to finance a stair-climbing wheelchair for him,” said Hoenig’s friend. The actor is currently more or less trapped in his third floor apartment. A stair climbing wheelchair would make his life a lot easier.
Hoenig’s wife is touched by the new campaign on Instagram. “I would like to thank everyone who takes part in this in advance. Who commissions a cloverleaf for Heinz and supports him in doing so,” said Kärsten-Hoenig. “It’s just incredibly great that so many people are supporting Heinz and supporting us as a family. I can only thank each and every one of them,” she says.
These are the most important roles of actor Heinz Hoenig
This role made him famous: In Wolfgang Petersen’s war drama “Das Boot”, the then 30-year-old played radio mate Hinrich. The film was also an international success – and helped the acting ensemble around Jürgen Prochnow (l.), Herbert Grönemeyer, Martin Semmelrogge, Claude-Oliver Rudolph, Ralf Richter, Otto Sander and Heinz Hoenig to international prominence.

The “GoFundMe” platform continues to collect money for Hoenig. A few months ago, Hoenig’s agency launched a fundraising campaign that has now generated more than 180,000 euros. In an update from mid-November, the costs that have been paid so far are listed in detail. “As the ongoing costs of home care represent another major challenge for the family, we ask you to continue to support us,” the campaign page says. “Your help gives Heinz the chance of time, life and hopefully a speedy recovery so that he can carry out the further upcoming operations,” said the initiators.
