This is how he feels after his cancer operation

In April, Alexander Hold announced that he had prostate cancer. Now he reveals how the operation went.

Alexander Hold (62) has survived his prostate cancer operation. The former TV judge and current politician made the illness public in the spring. He now told the magazine “Bunte”: “I’m doing well, I’ve survived everything, I don’t have to live with fear anymore for the time being.” The 62-year-old added: “The lymph nodes were removed, but thank God they weren’t affected in my case, the cancer hadn’t spread yet. I was lucky in that case. But it’s a cancer that can kill you “It’s no coincidence that prostate cancer is the second most common cancer-related death in men.”

In the “Bunte” interview, he also revealed about the cancer operation that it was nerve-preserving, “even though the carcinoma had grown close to the neighboring nerves. The prostate was removed. Everything went well.” He also said that he had already started pelvic floor training before the procedure: “After pregnancy, women have already known how important this is. That helped me not have any problems with incontinence or with what the doctor described as erectile dysfunction Many men are extremely afraid of impotence.”

His wife was an important support

His wife Pia was a great support during this time. “When I wasn’t feeling well mentally and physically after the operation, my wife always lifted me up and supported me.”

The politician once again called for precautionary measures. He didn’t even notice he had cancer at first. “You don’t feel prostate cancer for a long time, I had no pain that could have warned me, that’s the tricky part. Prostate cancer is a silent killer.” During a check-up, his urologist noticed “that I have a problem within me.”

TV show “Judge Alexander Hold” made the politician famous

After studying law in Munich, Alexander Hold was a judge in his hometown of Kempten. From 2001 onwards, he made fictitious judgments for more than ten years on the daily television show “Richter Alexander Hold” on Sat.1. Over 2,000 episodes of the show were broadcast on screens. There were also shows like “Guilty? – Fates in Court” or “In the Name of Justice”. Hold is also active as an author and presenter. For the Free Voters, he has been, among other things, a member of the Bavarian State Parliament and Vice President of the State Parliament since 2018. In 2017 he ran in the election for Federal President. He received two percent of the vote.

When Hold’s party made his cancer public in a statement in April, he said: “If you, as an elected representative, cannot show your usual presence over a longer period of time, that rightly raises questions among people.” Only with openness can he ask for understanding from the people “who represent me in the state parliament presidium and in the parliamentary group.” He is now chairing meetings in the Bavarian state parliament again and is attending many appointments in his constituency, as he told “Bunte”.
