Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has deregistered from X. It was previously announced that X owner Elon Musk would receive a post from Trump.
The short message service X, formerly Twitter, has been criticized for its development since it was taken over by tech billionaire Elon Musk (53). It was recently announced that Musk would receive a position from Donald Trump (78) and would head the new government department for government efficiency. So it seems no coincidence that actress Jamie Lee Curtis (65) announced her departure from X this Wednesday (November 13th).
Jamie Lee Curtis posts serenity prayer
She posted a picture of the platform’s notification that her account was now deactivated. She quoted Reinhold Niebuhr’s Serenity Prayer: “God, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Jamie Lee Curtis, who spoke out for Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris (60) before the election, said after the election results: “We have to wake up and fight. Let’s fight for women and our children and their future and let’s fight against tyranny, One day at a time. One protest at a time. This is what it has always meant and will always mean.”
After Trump’s supporter Elon Musk took over Twitter, numerous celebrities said goodbye to the platform, including Hollywood star Jim Carrey (62), singer Toni Braxton (57) and musician Moby (59). Colleague Elton John (77) did the same in December 2022 and explained about his X withdrawal: “All my life I have tried to use music to bring people together.” However, it makes him sad to see “how misinformation is now being used to divide our world.” He said he has decided to “no longer use Twitter” because a policy change will allow “misinformation to flourish unhindered.”
Also reacted to the latest developments surrounding Musk. According to a statement, the daily newspaper will no longer publish anything on its own X accounts. The reasons are: “The US presidential election campaign has only underscored what we have long suspected: that X is a toxic media platform and that its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to influence political discourse.”
