Dave Coulier has cancer, but his “Full House” co-star John Stamos promises to be there for him. Other co-stars also support him.
Dave Coulier (65) has stage three lymphatic cancer. This was announced by the actor, who became known for his role as Joey Gladstone in the famous sitcom “Full House”. He was diagnosed in October after an upper respiratory infection caused severe swelling of his lymph nodes.
Just a few hours after the news became known, his long-time “Full House” colleague and close friend got in touch. He posted a series of photos documenting their deep friendship, including a relatively recent picture of Stamos hugging Coulier and a throwback photo from their “Full House” days. “My brother since day 1. I love you and I will be by your side through this time,” Stamos wrote.
Coulier’s wife Melissa Bring also thanked Stamos in the comments: “I love you – thank you for the daily support and love!!” Numerous fans were touched by the close bond between the two actors. “These relationships that start at work and become lifelong friendships are extremely rare… and beautiful,” commented one Instagram user, for example.
As Coulier previously revealed to People magazine, Stamos will visit him on Saturday, the day after his chemotherapy. “He was like, ‘If you just want to sleep, I’ll just sit with you, or if you want to listen to music or just talk, whatever.’ And I just thought, ‘Wow. That’s like a brother.'” Coulier said.
Other “Full House” colleagues are also there for Coulier
In addition to Stamos, Coulier also informed the other “Full House” co-stars Candace Cameron Bure (48), Andrea Barber (48), Jodie Sweetin (42), Lori Loughlin (60), Scott Weinger (49) and series creator Jeff Franklin ( 69) in a group message about his cancer diagnosis. He wanted to make sure they heard it directly from him. The reactions came “immediately,” he said. “It was just this wave of ‘I’ll be there for you. Just tell me when, and I know you’re in good hands with Mel, but what can we do?’ “It’s really overwhelming how much we love each other,” Coulier said. “We’ve been there for each other for so many years and that’s pretty remarkable.”
The sitcom “Full House” ran for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995. In 2016, many of the cast returned for the Netflix sequel “Fuller House,” which was produced until 2020. In January 2022, Bob Saget, one of the biggest “Full House” stars, died at the age of 65.
