Karoline Eichhorn feels the injustices in the acting industry drastically: “It’s difficult for us women over 45 to survive with our profession.”
Like many other actresses over 50, Karoline Eichhorn (“The Tobacconist”) is offered significantly fewer roles than before. She has felt the age problem – “extremely for at least five years,” the 59-year-old from Hamburg told the “Augsburger Allgemeine” in an interview. “I have at least 60 percent less work to do. It’s also a financial hit because it’s not so easy for us actors to get unemployment benefits. It’s difficult for us women over 45 to survive with our job. That’s why we have to “Let’s shoot “Herzkino”.” Eichhorn can be seen on ZDF in the “Herzkino” film “A Summer on the Côte d’Azur” on Sunday (8:15 p.m.).
Every now and then she asks herself whether she would dare to start over again, said Eichhorn. “The basic question is: Could I do that at all, because over time I’ve naturally gotten used to a fairly self-determined life?” That means she would then have to set up something independent. “Because I still earn enough from filming and our theater evening that I can stretch it over a longer period of time, it’s not so easy to find something else suitable for a short time. In any case, I haven’t found anything satisfactory yet The result has come. I also love my job and don’t want to give it up, but we do need nerves and patience.”
