Changed “atmosphere”: That’s what motivated Eva Longoria to move

Eva Longoria (49) moved from Los Angeles for a reason. As the actress revealed in an interview with, she lives alternately in Mexico and Spain with her husband José Bastón (56) and their son Santiago (6). Even before the pandemic, she no longer felt comfortable in California.

“I’ve spent my entire adult life here,” she said of her previous place of residence. However, the “atmosphere” in the Californian city has changed. “And then Corona happened and that changed it for good. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to complain about California – it just feels like that chapter in my life is closed now,” explained the “Desperate Housewives” star. Already in April, citing an insider, there was a report that the actress was temporarily moving to Spain.

This also takes a critical view of the political development of the USA. “They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my fear and sadness is for them,” she told Marie Claire about U.S. citizens. They were “not as lucky” as she was to be able to move so easily. “I can escape and go somewhere,” she said, noting that she is “privileged.”

The re-election of Donald Trump shocked her. “It’s about a convicted criminal who spreads so much hate being able to hold the highest office,” she fumed. “If he keeps his promises, it will be a scary place,” she said, looking to the future.

Trump’s first election victory in 2016 had already taken a toll on her. “I’ve never been depressed in my life,” said the actress, who holed up in bed after the results. “I asked myself, ‘Does my voice really matter? Can I really make a difference?'” she recalled. Over time, she realized that it wasn’t “the best person” who decided the election for herself.

She supported Kamala Harris in this year’s US election campaign. The acting star supported her with a speech at the Democratic Party Convention in August, among other things. According to US media reports, she also took part in a rally in Arizona shortly before election day.

Longoria also remained active in her professional life. The actress appeared in the fourth season of “Only Murders in the Building” in 2024. She also starred in and executive produced the dramedy series “Land of Women.”
