LeBron James: “I won’t play that much longer”

LeBron James (39) is considered an absolutely exceptional athlete. No other professional basketball player has had such an impact on the US NBA professional league in recent years as he has. In 2022, the “New York Times” ranked him second among the best NBA players of all time in his opinion. Only the legendary Michael Jordan (61) could overtake him. But even a “King James,” as LeBron likes to be called, is slowly but surely getting older. It will soon be time for your sports pension.

James is celebrating his big birthday this year. Shortly before the turn of the year, on December 30th, the basketball player will be 40 years old. “I won’t play that much longer, to be completely honest,” he told reporters.

“I don’t know how many years that is. Whether it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be,” James explained. However, he knows that at some point the time will come to abdicate. “I said the other day that I’m not going to play anymore until the wheels fall off,” James continued. “I’m not going to be that guy. I’m not going to be that guy that disrespects the game because I just wanted to be on the field.”

James recently made NBA history with his son. The star played with Bronny (20) for the Los Angeles Lakers, making the two of them the first father-son duo to play together in a regular season match in the league.
