Three months after Oasis’ comeback announcement, a legendary Noel Gallagher guitar was auctioned – at a legendary price.

Since the comeback announcement of the Britpop cult band Oasis in August 2024, the hype surrounding the two brothers Noel (57) and Liam Gallagher (52) has been reignited. As an auction in London has now shown, this is also causing the prices for available band memorabilia to rise to considerable heights.

The “best guitar in the world” under the hammer

According to consistent media reports, an electric guitar that had a special meaning for Noel Gallagher changed hands at an auction by the London auction house Propstore. It was a “Silver Sparkle Gibson Les Paul Florentine” made especially for the musician in 1997, which the musician is said to have once described as the “best guitar in the world”. It was used, among other things, during the recording of the third Oasis album “Be Here Now”.

The sparkling silver instrument reportedly went under the hammer for 226,800 pounds (around 271,400 euros). Although this is only a fraction of the $2.9 million that was paid at another auction in May this year for a guitar by Gallagher’s great role model John Lennon (1940-1980), it is still a spectacular sum.
