Lindsey Vonn mourns dog Bear. In an Instagram post, the ex-ski racer writes: “He was my protector from day one.”
American Lindsey Vonn (37) mourns her dog Bear: “Yesterday my wonderful boy died,” she writes about a series of pictures with the four-legged friend. “Bear was eight years old and was my protector from the day I rescued him.” The dog lost the fight against an aggressive cancer that was only discovered a few days ago. “He was a fighter and a brave boy to the end,” explains the former ski racer, who ended her successful sports career in 2019.
Bear was something very special and unique, Vonn continues. “He always protected me, was my shadow wherever I went. […] When I was injured, he was the first to lie by my side. When I cried, he was always there to cuddle (the other two hate it when I cry).” Her heart was broken and “broken into so many pieces that I don’t know how to put them back together,” she reveals the 37-year-old emotionally.”My only comfort is knowing that he’s still protecting me, just from a different place,” Vonn ended her post.
Dogs play a big part
“My three dogs play a huge role in my life. Our connection is something special,” said the Olympic champion at the end of 2020 in “Bild am Sonntag” about Bear, Leo and Lucy. The four-legged friends helped her a lot during her injuries, which is why they are inseparable today.
