Fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer (59) makes no secret of his admiration for his colleague Wolfgang Joop. Kretschmer, who is known for the TV show “Shopping Queen”, is not only impressed by Joop’s fashion work: “I also think he was the most beautiful young man I have ever seen.”
On Joop’s 80th birthday this Monday, Kretschmer told the dpa: “First of all, he is a great man – interesting, clever, intelligent and very talented.” On the one hand, Joop is very modern, but also has a bit of yesterday, “which I also find very nice.” Joop influenced many generations of designers. “He showed that you can achieve anything with talent, charm, good looks and fine taste,” said Kretschmer.
The fashion designer, illustrator and author Joop lives in his hometown of Potsdam. He said he wants to celebrate his 80th birthday in a smaller circle with family and friends.
