In an interview, Denzel Washington is critical of the political situation in the USA and warns of manipulation by both camps.
Hollywood star Denzel Washington (69) has recently commented critically on the current political situation in the USA. Above all, the two-time Oscar winner warns people not to allow themselves to be manipulated by the political camps.
“Today we are all slaves to information,” explains Washington in an interview. “Whatever you think about the political leaders – whether one is crazy or the other sane – you should realize that you are being manipulated by both sides. Period.”
Clear words about political responsibility
The “Training Day” star appeals to his compatriots to hold elected representatives more accountable. “I think we as Americans need to unite and get our elected representatives to work together through our voices,” said the 69-year-old. He had already emphasized this in 2017 during Donald Trump’s (78) first term in office.
When asked about the current political situation, Washington doesn’t mince his words: “It’s all politics. It’s all promises not kept.” However, in his opinion, it is easy to look at America from the outside and judge.
