Andreas Gabalier: At 40 he is “full of juice”

Folk rock’n’roller Andreas Gabalier (39) will be celebrating his 40th birthday in a few days. The folk music star celebrated with around 10,000 fans on Saturday (November 16th) in the town hall of his hometown of Graz – and provided insights into his inner life shortly before the special day.

When asked how he feels at almost 40, Gabalier said: “I now have a new area code, the 4th. But I’m not having a mid-life crisis, I’m in full swing and feel at the peak of my powers.”

He actually feels fitter now than he did ten years ago, as he “wasted a lot more nights back then. The parties were more excessive.” Now, says Gabalier, he treats himself to “half a glass” of whiskey before a performance, “if at all.”

Gabalier also draws a positive conclusion from his first decade of life. He had “an exciting, emotional life”. He also still enjoys sex. When asked whether lovemaking has changed for him over the years and now that he is almost 40, he replies that sex has “always been beautiful.” “It was exciting at 17, it was exciting at 25, it was adventurous at times. And please let it always stay that way.”
