At the closing of presidential debate, and in the face of citizens, National Party candidate (P.N.), Alvaro Delgadowas shown as the continuity of the current government and recalled the management in times of crisis during the pandemic.
For his part, the presidential candidate of the Frente Amplio (FA), Yamandu Orsiassured that he already “knew how to do it” well as mayor of Cannelloniand affirmed that choosing for him and his political force implies “safe change” for the Uruguay.
Two country models
For Delgado, “a debate was absolutely necessary” and he clarified that “it is not fighting, we can have a civilized debate on proposals and people compare who is prepared, who has program and who has ideas, let people choose with information.”
“This is the job interview where people can compare two country models and two leaderships. Ours is one of certainty, with economic growth, security, guarantees and freedom. The other model is to return to the past with a lot of ideology, more uncertainty, surely more taxes. But surely with less freedom and many more risks,” he compared to Wide Front and the Republican Coalition.
The former Secretary of the Presidency appealed to his experience and launched: “In seven days we have to ask ourselves: if a new crisis, Who would you like to be at the helm governing the Uruguay?”.
“I am prepared, tested and humbly ready to be that captain at the helm of the ship of the country of the flag of national unity, who can navigate in stormy and calm waters,” said Delgado and closed: “I want to govern the country and lead the “Uruguay to development.”
Orsi bets on “safe change”
When closing the debate, Orsi questioned Delgado’s allusions to the FA. “I would have liked to talk much less about the Frente Amplio and much more about the proposals for Uruguay”, He launched and, facing the people, pointed out: “There is one week left and we will all have to choose between two projects: that of unfulfilled promises or the country of commitments.”
“The country of commitments is one that implies a sure change that unites Uruguay and allows us to grow to make ends meet. Allows you to grow wages, the retirements and that businessmen, industrialists and merchants have better costs. The safe change is the one that takes more care of our people, offers medicines, shortens the time of medical care and a State that takes more care of us and allows us to live safely,” he expressed.
In a message to the undecided, The Frente Amplista pointed out: “I ask you to accompany me to those who voted for me and to those who did not vote to regain trust and faith. To those who long for that Uruguay batlista, and to those who believe in solidarity as a flag.”
“Let’s take the love for our people to the polls this Sunday. I knew how to do it when I was in Cannelloni and I will know how to do it at the head of Uruguay and together we will know how to deliver,” concluded Orsi.
