Victoria Kjær Theilvig was the first Danish woman ever to win the title of “Miss Universe”. She inherits last year’s winner from Nicaragua. An overview.
Victoria Kjaer Theilvig from Denmark is officially the most beautiful woman in the universe: The 21-year-old dancer, entrepreneur and animal rights activist won the 73rd edition of the Miss Universe competition on Saturday in Mexico City. At the free skate in Mexico’s capital, she became the first Dane to win the final against Chidimma Adetshina from Nigeria, María Fernanda Beltrán from Mexico, Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand and Ileana Márquez from Venezuela. She follows Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua, who won the competition last year. Germany has so far only produced one winner of the competition, Marlene Schmidt, who grew up in the GDR. After Schmidt’s escape to West Germany in 1960, she applied for a pageant, and a short time later she won the title of “Miss Universe”. In recent years, women from South America have dominated the competition.
