Hugh Grant became a father for the first time at the age of 52. The actor now regrets that he only welcomed children at this age.
Hugh Grant (64) has made an honest confession about his late fatherhood. The actor, who became a father for the first time at the age of 52, explained that he had had children “much too late in life”. “Now I’m 64 and the youngest is six and I need a long stay at a spa or an abbey,” Grant joked in the conversation with hosts Jason Bateman (55), Sean Hayes (54) and Will Arnett (54).
But despite the late joys of fatherhood, his offspring changed him into a better person, said the Hollywood star. “I was a middle-aged, dried-up, golf-addicted Englishman, then I had kids and suddenly I had a heart.”
Hugh Grant thrives in his role as a father
Just a few days ago, Grant spoke to host Kelly Clarkson (42) about his everyday life as a father of five. Accordingly, it is often “noisy” and “unbearable” in the Grant house, which is why the 64-year-old “often hides in the toilet.” “I sleep there a lot. There’s a lock, but it’s pretty much broken now,” Grant joked.
In the course of the conversation, the “Wonka” star appeared to be forgiving. “It’s nice. I’m going home tonight, and let’s face it, the part where they jump into your arms, […] I really like that,” he enthused – and then shed a few tears.
Hugh Grant shares three children with his current partner Anna Eberstein (41): daughters Blue (6) and Lulu (8) and son Mungo (12). Two other children, daughter Tabitha Xiao Xi (13) and son Felix Chang Hong (11), come from a love affair with actress Tinglan Hong (45), who was pregnant with Eberstein at the same time.
