Actress Kristin Davis announced the death of her father with heartbreaking words. He suffered from Parkinson’s disease.
Kristin Davis (59) mourns the loss of her father Tom Atkinson, who battled Parkinson’s disease for the past ten years. She paid tribute to him in an emotional Instagram post.

On Monday, November 18, the actress from the series “Sex and the City” and its sequel “And Just Like That…” announced that her father recently died due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. “My father recently passed away and the family gathered for a celebration of his life, for which he had left detailed instructions,” Davis wrote. A jazz band also played at the “beautiful celebration”.
“We all learned new things about him because he lived an extraordinary life,” she continued of her father, who was born “in a cabin by a river” in North Carolina. According to Davis, Atkinson’s passion for his career led him to “give speeches all over the world about his psychological research.” He was a born teacher. “He was brilliant and smart, and people loved him.”
“Grateful that you brightened our lives”
The actress then discussed his illness. “He’s been living with Parkinson’s for the last decade.” The Charlotte actress highlighted the devotion her mother showed her father after the diagnosis and also thanked “his doctors, nurses and home care” for their help. “I am so grateful for the support he has received and the perseverance he has shown in a very real and difficult battle.” Her post ended with the words: “Thinking of our entire family and especially my mom. We love you dad and we are so grateful that you brightened our lives and left us so much love.”
