In 2018, Woody Allen’s adopted daughter Dylan Farrow renewed allegations of abuse against the director. Rebecca Hall commented on this at the time – she would no longer do that today.
British actress Rebecca Hall says she regrets earlier statements about the abuse allegations against US director Woody Allen. “It’s very out of character for me to make a public statement about anything,” the 42-year-old told the British newspaper The Observer.
She doesn’t see herself as a committed actress (original: “actor-vist”), said Hall. “I kind of regret that statement because I don’t think it’s his actors’ responsibility to comment on this situation.” Hall appeared in the films “A Rainy Day in New York” (2019) and “Vicky Christina Barcelona” (2008).
Hall wanted to donate Gage from Woody Allen film
Allen’s adopted daughter Dylan Farrow (39) made further allegations of abuse against the director in an interview with the Los Angeles Times at the end of 2017. Allen has always rejected the allegations, and a court largely agreed with him decades ago.
The actors Timothée Chalamet, Griffin Newman and Rebecca Hall subsequently announced that they wanted to give up their fees for “A Rainy Day in New York”. Hall made her announcement on Instagram and, according to multiple reports, apologized for working with Allen – the post has since been deleted.
Hall now told the Observer: “I don’t regret working with him. He gave me a great opportunity for a great job and was friendly to me.” How would she react today? “I wouldn’t say anything – my principle is to be an artist.”
