Marius Borg Høiby in detention center – pre-trial detention still open
“What the police can say about the rape is that it was sexual behavior without sexual intercourse. The victim is said to have been unable to defend herself against the act,” writes police prosecutor Andreas Kruszewski in a statement.
Specifically, he is suspected of violating a section of criminal law “that concerns sexual intercourse with a person who is unconscious or unable to defend themselves for other reasons.”
The police filed a report based on tips that emerged during the ongoing investigation. The public prosecutor’s office then decided on November 6, 2024 to initiate an investigation.
According to police, Høiby was arrested in a car. The police then carried out searches and seizures on site, according to the press release. According to police, Høiby is now being held in the central detention center. It has not yet been decided whether the 27-year-old will be remanded in custody.
Høiby has already been charged on other counts
Hege Salomon, the lawyer for the unnamed alleged victim, told NRK: “She is going through a difficult time. She did not report the incident, but the police have initiated proceedings.”
Høiby is already accused of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriends Juliane Snekkestad and Nora Haukland. He is also said to have threatened a man. He was also charged with violence, criminal damage, reckless conduct and injury to ex-girlfriends.
Høiby grew up with his half-siblings from Mette-Marit’s marriage to the Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 20, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 18. Unlike them, he has no public role in the Norwegian royal family.
