Ralph Macchio immortalized on the Walk of Fame
“Karate Kid” star Ralph Macchio has received a star on the Walk of Fame. His co-stars honored him with touching speeches.
Ralph Macchio (63) was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday (November 20) alongside his “Karate Kid” co-star Pat Morita (1932-2005). Other fellow actors appeared and praised him in emotional speeches.
“I love him like a brother”
“His work and his craft as an actor, director and artist mean a lot to him,” emphasized his film counterpart William Zabka (59). “I love him like a brother,” the actor added, calling him a “lovable, sincere, serious, talented entertainer.” His friendship and collaboration is “a gift” for Zabka.
Tamlyn Tomita (58) also spoke at the honor and highlighted Macchio’s “loving kindness”. “It was Ralph who just opened his whole heart and mind in front of and behind the camera,” she recalled of their time on set. “He is so damn proud of you when he sees you blossoming,” she addressed Macchio’s children Daniel (28) and Julia (32) with a trembling voice.

Macchio also came close to tears in his subsequent speech as he addressed his parents, who apparently watched the ceremony from home. “You and my brother Steven laid the foundation for who I am,” he said, thanking his family. He also expressed his gratitude to his co-stars and fans.
He values learning from others, but also “passing on this legacy, be it to the young actors of Cobra Kai or to friends of my children.” As he continued, he “doesn’t take it for granted that we can spread a little joy in a world that isn’t always happy.”
“Karate Kid” made him famous
Ralph Macchio became known for his role as Daniel LaRusso in the “Karate Kid” series. The first film in 1984 was followed by the sequels “Karate Kid II – Decision in Okinawa” (1986) and “Karate Kid III – The Final Decision” (1989). The actor has been embodying his film character again in the series “Cobra Kai” since 2018. The sixth and final season is scheduled to end on Netflix in 2025. Over the years, however, Macchio also starred in other films such as Francis Ford Coppola’s (85) “The Outsiders” (1983) or the film biography “Hitchcock” (2012).
