Robbie Williams and Nicole Scherzinger couldn’t attend Liam Payne’s funeral, so they paid their respects to their friend in other ways.

Last Wednesday (November 20th), musician Liam Payne, who died at the age of 31, was buried in his British homeland. Numerous stars came to Amersham near London to pay their last respects to Payne. According to a report, Robbie Williams (50) and Nicole Scherzinger (46) were apparently also invited. Although neither of them made it to the funeral, they expressed their sadness and sympathy in other ways.

Both Williams and Scherzinger reached out to the One Direction star’s surviving relatives and sent them a “touching gesture” in the form of flowers. Both stars were good friends with Payne, as suggested by their expressions of grief following Payne’s death.

Williams said goodbye with the following words: “You brought so much joy, light and laughter into the lives of those who really knew you. I will miss you, my friend, and carry you in my heart.” Scherzinger also had hers: “Dear Liam, I will forever cherish and cherish the time we spent together. Fifteen years ago, when One Direction was born, until a few weeks ago.”

Scherzinger was a judge on the British edition of the talent show “The X-Factor” several times, although not in the season when One Direction was formed. Her former jury colleague Simon Cowell (65) appeared at Payne’s funeral.

One Direction appeared in full

As announced in advance of the funeral, Payne’s former colleagues from One Direction all came to the memorial service. Harry Styles (30) appeared, followed shortly afterwards by Zayn Malik (31). While Louis Tomlinson (32) also arrived alone, Niall Horan (31) came accompanied by his girlfriend Amelia Woolley.

Presenter and actor James Corden (46) and Payne’s ex-partner Cheryl Cole (41), with whom he was in a relationship for around two years until 2018, also traveled to the ceremony. Their son Bear (7) is also said to have been there.

The singer of the boy band One Direction died on October 16, 2024 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
