Golfer Brian Harman’s son has been rescued after a bodyboarding incident. However, a woman who jumped into the sea is in a coma.

An incident occurred in mid-October in which the six-year-old son of US professional golfer Brian Harman (37) had to be rescued while bodyboarding. A family friend tried to reach the boy in the sea, but was so badly injured that she has been in a coma for weeks. Harman recently took advantage of a golf tournament to thank the woman.

“She’s been in a coma for about six weeks now.”

The golfer was in China on business when his wife drove to a beach in Florida with their children and family friend Cathy Dowdy. While bodyboarding with a good friend, the boy was swept out to sea. “She went into the water to get my son. He is six years old. She couldn’t reach him,” Harman explained. A man named Crane Cantrell also jumped after them.

“He came through it well; Cathy was seriously injured… She’s been in a coma for about six weeks now, so obviously our world has been turned upside down,” the golfer said. According to the report, a lifeguard was able to bring the woman to shore and performed resuscitation measures before emergency services arrived.

Harmann is grateful for the family friend’s selflessness

Harman couldn’t be more grateful. “I wanted to use every platform at my disposal to bring attention to what Cathy and Crane did,” he said. They selflessly “went into the water and saved my son. How do you thank such people? […] I think that [diese] Bravery and doing things like that for people who aren’t related to you is just the most beautiful thing you can do in this life.”

Harman also thanks the great support that has been given since then. Dowdy’s relatives Mike, Christina and Nicole are like family “and we are with them until the end, and I am grateful to everyone who helped us through all of this.” The “PGA Tour,” which has raised more than $84,000 so far. The aim is to support Dowdy’s family while they continue to be in a clinic.
