Marriage over for Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and her husband Daniel Holefleisch. The couple confirms they have split.
After around 17 years of marriage, Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (43) and her husband Daniel Holefleisch have separated. The couple confirmed this in a joint statement.
Apparently the separation of Baerbock and Holefleisch, who married in 2007, was a while ago. “We decided together in a lengthy process some time ago that we are no longer a couple,” the statement says. The two do not share a reason for the end of the marriage. The former couple wanted to forestall possible rumors: “To forestall possible speculation: There are no new partners.”
Baerbock and Holefleisch focus on the family
Baerbock and Holefleisch have two daughters together. For both of them, the focus is on the well-being of their children. “The most important thing for us remains to work together to ensure that our two daughters can grow up in peace and in a loving environment,” the daily newspaper quotes. “Accordingly, we will continue to live in our shared home in Potsdam.”
The two apparently do not want to comment further on the matter. “Especially for the well-being of our children, we urgently ask that our family’s privacy be respected,” it concludes.
Foreign Minister Baerbock ran as the Greens’ candidate for chancellor in 2021. In this context: “My children know where my heart and my home are.” The election campaign back then “didn’t go without a division of tasks: my husband takes full responsibility and works at home. He has already reduced his hours at work in the last few years because I often leave the house early in the morning and come home at night.” Holefleisch was responsible for “daycare, school, homework and lunch.”
