Conor McGregor was accused of rape. The MMA fighter is now expected to pay damages of around 250,000 euros.
The Irish mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor (36) was once celebrated as a big star in the UFC. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship champion has now been sentenced to pay high compensation in court in Dublin for serious sexual assault. The fighter was accused of raping Nikita Hand in a hotel in Ireland’s capital in late 2018.
The court sentenced McGregor to pay damages of more than 248,000 euros in the civil case. After deliberating for around six hours, a jury was of the opinion that the athlete had raped his hand.

McGregor was accompanied to the court date by his partner Dee Devlin (37) and his parents, among others. He had denied the allegations and insisted that he had consensual sex with the woman. According to the report, he shook his head when the verdict was announced. On the , he would “appeal today’s decision.” He is now with his family and wants to concentrate on the future.
Hand thanked reporters for the support she had received. She added: “I want to [meiner Tochter] Showing Freya and all other young girls and boys that if something happens to you, you can stand up for yourself, no matter who the person is, and that justice will be served.”
