Cher has few fond memories of working with “The Mask” director Peter Bogdanovich. She calls him ”a pig”.
Cher (78) does not have good memories of her collaboration with director Peter Bogdanovich (82), with whom she made the 1985 film “The Mask”. In one she calls the director arrogant – which is one of the nicer words she has for him.
“Oh yeah, he was a pig”
In the interview, the singer and actress recalled that Bogdanovich would ask her where they should film a certain scene. Cher suggested the set’s kitchen, where they had already filmed. “Why don’t we do it again?” was her answer. She continues: “The next morning he comes to set, eats an egg sandwich and starts screaming that he won’t let me direct this movie; I’m a nobody; he could throw me out at any moment. Oh yeah, him was a pig.” Cher goes on to call the director “an asshole” and continues: “He wasn’t nice to the girls in the movie and he was so damn arrogant. I really didn’t like him.”
The antipathy was obviously mutual. The director had also made derogatory comments about the film star. In 2019, he claimed in an that Cher was the most difficult actress to work with because she “trusts no one, especially men.”
Memoirs in two parts
The pop icon recently released the first part of her memoir titled “Cher: The Memoir – Part One.” In it she reports on her life up until the separation from her husband and musical partner Sonny Bono (1935-1998). The second part will probably follow next year.
